Workshop: GIF It a Go - Making Art Move
Make your GIF from a selection of artworks available at the National Galleries of Scotland. Perhaps you would like to see the Reverend really skate, dreams unfurl in the Mysterious Garden, the Ladies Waldegrave roll their eyes - or something else from your imagination.
In these workshops, you will have the opportunity to learn and develop your GIF making skills, guided by Stephanie Farley of the Learning, Teaching and Web Services Information Group at University of Edinburgh.
PLEASE NOTE: You can attend one or both of the Beginner and Intermediate workshops - please select the corresponding ticket[s] of your choice when booking via Eventbrite. Workshops will be hosted on Collaborate (a link will be sent following booking).
Begin with layering stickers and adding effects, before progressing to altering and animating the artworks, using free online tools. Upon creating your GIFs, participants will be invited to share them at the end of the workshop, and to submit to international competition GIF It Up: see some previous examples here.
These workshops are taking place as part of a PhD research project looking at digitised artworks in the National Galleries of Scotland. If you sign up for the workshop, the researcher will be in touch to discuss the project with you and seek your participation. If you wish to attend the workshop but not take part in the research, that is also possible. For more information on this, you can contact: eleanor.capaldi@ed.ac.uk.
