Introduction to Programming with Python

Python is one of the most popular programming languages. It is an object-oriented programming language with a simple and elegant syntax. It is also an interpreted language, which means you don’t need to compile your code. Thus, it is ideal for concise scripting, rapid prototyping and development of ideas and applications.
This course will introduce attendants to the basic concepts and features of Python. It is recommended that attendants have a Python interpreter and an IDE (e.g., using Anaconda to install Jupyter Notebook or via Google Colab) installed for hands-on experience (attendees will receive detailed instructions on how to do so prior to the course). The course will introduce many noteworthy features. The goal is to teach participants how to create simple Python programs and provide them the autonomy and confidence required to progress independently.
This is a beginner level course. No previous knowledge on the topic is required/expected and the trainer will cover the basics of the method.
This course will be taught by Chris Oldnall and Sarah Schöttler.
