New University of Edinburgh Datasets Online

The Centre for Research Collections at University of Edinburgh has made a number of collection datasets available online.

The University holds over 6.5km of unique cultural and heritage collections, including archives, rare books and manuscripts, art and musical instruments. They are keen to make as much of the metadata relating to these collections available to researchers, and we’re all excited to see what the research community might discover by working with these datasets.

Researchers can currently download the full catalogue data for the art collection and musical instruments (over 10,000 records) in addition to the metadata for the Artist Books collection at ECA and records of what readers have been looking at in the CRC Reading Room.

We intend to increase the number of datasets available to include further rare book collections, e.g. the library of Adam Smith, and the archive collections. Researchers will soon be able to access the metadata for historic alumni, the Roslin Slide collection, the correspondence of David Laing and our Western Medieval Manuscripts.
