CDCS Announces PhD Funding Call

We are delighted to announce a funding call for the PHD students within our community.

The Centre for Data, Culture & Society has a mission to grow capacity for data-driven and computational research across the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. We are now opening a funding call for PhD students within CAHSS, with the aim of supporting postgraduate and postdoctoral research that aligns with our mission.

This is a flexible fund, which could be used for a variety of activities such as, but not restricted to:

  • paying for data access

  • hardware or equipment

  • travel costs

  • software licences

  • technical support costs

We will consider all applications on their merits and fit to our mission.

The deadline for applications to this call is: 17:00 on April 30th

Conditions:

This fund will not pay for costs that would normally be covered by the applicant’s School Research Fund e.g. conference fees.  Applicants are expect to have checked with their School, and will be asked to provide the name of a School administrator who will handle the fund on their behalf.

Where the applicant proposes to spend funding on support, CDSC will provide the funds to cover costs but cannot help with arranging the support. This should be done through the applicant’s School, and the availability of support should be checked in advance.

Please note that we also run a training bursary scheme, throughout the year which is currently open:  PhD students seeking support for training are encouraged to apply via that route.

Eligibility:  Applicants must be PhD students within one of the 12 Schools of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Edinburgh.

This call is now closed
