Wikipedia Editathon: Women in Digital Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences

Wikipedia aims to capture 'the sum of human knowledge', but most volunteer Wikipedia editors are male, and there are fewer and less extensive articles on Wikipedia about women and their contributions to the world.

Following the Centre for Data, Culture & Society’s inaugural annual lecture in December 2020, which was delivered by Professor Aimée Morrison, we have been inspired to highlight the contributions of women working in the digital arts, humanities social sciences. CDCS is hosting this editathon to highlight the work of such women who meet Wikipedia’s standards for notability, but who don’t yet have a page or need a page expanded.

Come and help us add more notable women to Wikipedia at our Women in Digital Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences editathon! The event will be led by the University of Edinburgh’s Wikimedian in Residence, Ewan McAndrew.
