Post-COVID-19 Recovery: Supporting Scottish Tourism with Data Led Insights

Tourism embodies a significant part of the Scottish economy. The COVID-19 pandemic, however, forced tourism businesses to close to adhere to social distancing measures and the ‘stay at home’ rule. After a year of restrictions, the Scottish Government outlined a roadmap to ease the lockdown. The Tourism, Technology & Data cluster is committed to supporting tourism businesses as they reopen.

The first of a series of events on this topic, this public lecture and networking event will share the findings of a data-driven research project funded by ESRC IAA Accelerating Business Collaborations, and offer an opportunity to discuss the challenges facing the tourism industry.

Speakers Antonia Gieschen and Yuanming Qiu, will describe how their work reveals key visitor markets showing interest in visiting Scotland and its key tourism destinations post-COVID-19. Businesses based in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Isle of Skye should find insights deriving from the project particularly useful.

Following the lecture, attendees will be invited to a virtual networking space (17:00 - 17:30 BST), in which they will have the opportunity to meet researchers and other professionals and discuss key areas of interest.
