Applications Open for NLS-CDCS Digital Research Internship in AI

NLS Logo

CDCS is funding a Digital Research Intern in AI with the National Library of Scotland (NLS).

NLS launched their Digital Scholarship Service and Data Foundry, a platform for making collections available as data, in 2019. Since then, they have seen many uses of machine learning and Artificial Intelligence with the collections, both for research and creative outputs. While AI tools are increasingly available for use with the collections, they can also change and improve processes within the Library, such as cataloguing.

This internship will work towards creating a practical approach for the Library to use in its day-to-day work, in particular guiding the ethical use of machine learning and AI in a cultural heritage setting going forwards. The successful candidate will work with the Digital Scholarship Librarian to draft an AI Framework for the Library, outlining what AI means in a Library setting.

For an informal chat about this post, please contact Sarah Ames, Digital Scholarship Librarian (sarah.ames@nls.uk).
