Access to ProQuest Text and Data Mining Workbench

Sample map visualisation using ProQuest TDM Studio

Researchers at the University of Edinburgh can now request access to the ProQuest text and data mining platform, ProQuest TDM Studio. Using the TDM Studio’s ‘workbench’ researchers can have programmatic access to right-cleared ProQuest content, searching millions of documents and databases to find data, and can create and refine bespoke data sets for analysis.  The platform uses Jupyter notebooks, which provide an accessible development environment, and is preconfigured with standard data science libraries in R and Python.  There is also a visualization dashboard, currently under development, which enables users without coding experience to explore data and gain insights.

The University of Edinburgh has subscribed to ProQuest TDM Studio for a one year trial. Researchers can access a workbench which will be managed by the Centre for Data, Culture & Society. ProQuest regularly runs webinar on TDM Studio for researchers, walking users through a live demo and answering questions.
